tsakanikasHe graduated from the Department of Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 1997, where he also conducted his PhD thesis in the area of Technology Economics and Business Strategy. As a research fellow in the Laboratory of Industrial and Energy Economics (LIEE/NTUA) he participated in various European projects in the area of socioeconomics research and information society research. He has also worked as a scientific advisor to the General Secretariat for Industry (Ministry of Development) and to the General Secretariat for the Information Society (Ministry of National Economy and Finance). From May 2004 he works in the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (FEIR/IOBE) He has also been working as an adjunct Lecturer at the University of Peloponese (Department of Economics) from 2003 to 2008. His main research interests and most of his published work are in the area of technology strategy of the firm, business strategy, economics of innovation, entrepreneurship and relevant public policies. His is currently Research Director in FEIR /IOBE, being responsible for coordinating research activities in cooperation with the Scientific and General Director. His other targeted research responsibilities include the monthly Business & Consumer Surveys, the quarterly reports on the Greek Economy, the annual report for the Greek Industry and various other periodical and ad- hoc studies. Furthermore, he is the scientific responsible for all projects related to the Information Society and new technologies that are undertaken by IOBE. He is also member of the IOBE research team that participates in the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) and co-author of the national annual studies published by IOBE, regarding Entrepreneurship in Greece. In March 2010 he was elected Assistant Professor at the National Technical University of Athens in the field of economic analysis of technological systems.
